Projects

Initiatives facilitated by the CCC Technology Center:
Systemwide Technology Platform
The California Community Colleges (CCC) Technology Center is developing a Systemwide Technology Platform standard that will allow the system to build new Web 2.0 applications that work together, provide sharable services to the colleges, and can incorporate legacy functionality as we transition to the next generation.
California Virtual Campus (CVC)
The California Virtual Campus (CVC) supports the development and delivery of online learning in community colleges throughout the state of California, and in one respect, other accredited higher education institutions in the state, as well.
The CVC Professional Development Center cooperates in assisting faculty and staff, and hosts and maintains an online catalog of California distance learning.
The CVC online catalog is the most comprehensive online listing available of distributive education offered by accredited California colleges and universities.
California Educational Technology Collaborative (CETC)
Leaders from the California Community Colleges (CCC) educational technology projects meet about five times per fiscal year. These meetings provide opportunities to strengthen CCC projects by sharing the information and insights of CCC project directors across the state. The meetings allow “connections” to develop between projects where synergies exist, thereby enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Telecommunications and Technology Infrastructure Program (TTIP) and funding as a whole.
CCCApply: the Online Application to the California Community Colleges
CCCApply is the online gateway to the California Community Colleges. Each year at our 112 colleges, more than two million students from all over the world build their career skills, prepare for transfer to four-year colleges and universities, or simply enrich their lives through learning. CCCApply streamlines the application process for students and staff.
eTranscript California (formerly CCCTran)
eTranscript California is the statewide Internet-based system for requesting, transmitting, tracking, downloading, and viewing academic transcripts among authorized educational institutions and their trading partners.
CCCAssess
California’s community colleges face the challenge of accurately assessing and placing the growing numbers of students seeking entrance. Historically, each college has borne the financial and administrative burden of assessing and placing students in the curricular areas of Math, English and English as a Second Language (ESL). The California Community College System is looking for the financial and process efficiencies that could be achieved through a centralized common assessment model that serves the entire community college system and has received two grants to complete a feasibility study and pilot to prove the concept.
Transfer Counselor Web Site
The Transfer Counselor Web site was designed specifically for CCC transfer counselors to become a one-stop Web site. This site contains all California college and university information and some out of state information.
CENIC and the California Research and Education Network (CalREN)
The Corporation for Education Networking In California (CENIC) is a not-for-profit corporation serving California Institute of Technology, California State University, Stanford University, University of California, University of Southern California, California Community Colleges and the statewide K-12 school system. CENIC's mission is to facilitate and coordinate the development, deployment, and operation of a set of robust multi-tiered advanced network services for this research and education community, California Research and Education Network (CalREN).
CCC Clearinghouse: automated curriculum and state clearinghouse
The CCC Clearinghouse is a statewide, Web-based repository that allows authorized users at both the local college and state level to electronically deposit, self-index, search, and retrieve documents, files, and certain databases that are of interest to any or all of the 112 colleges and the CCC Chancellor's Office.
CCC Geospatial Information System (GIS) Project
The CCC Geospatial Information System Project is a collaboration of individuals systemwide who created and maintain a repository of geographical data to support projects within the California Community Colleges.
Systemwide Architecture Committee (SAC) Research and Trend Analysis
The Systemwide Architecture Committee (SAC) provides technical expertise for planning the development and growth of the systemwide information-technology (IT) infrastructure for California Community Colleges (CCC). SAC is a subcommittee of the Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Committee (TTAC). SAC works in close coordination with TTAC to develop strategic plans, policies, implementation strategies, practices, and standards regarding the systemwide implementation of IT infrastructure.
The Research and Planning Group for CCC (RP Group)
Through professional development and research, the RP Group strengthens the ability of California's community colleges to undertake high quality research, planning, and assessments that improve evidence-based decision making, institutional effectiveness, and success for all students.
Telecommunications and Technology Advisory Committee (TTAC)
TTAC advises the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office on the continued development and deployment of telecommunications and educational technologies in the California Community Colleges. The committee researches technology trends and recommends the direction for technology infrastructure initiatives within the California Community Colleges system. It meets four times a year.
The Technology Center supports TTAC by coordinating its quarterly meetings and its annual Tech III Strategic Planning retreat.
Systemwide Technology Strategic Planning
The Tech IV Strategic Plan is being developed as a wiki-page to facilitate collaboration and stand up a 'living document' that can respond to rapid change in the technology environment.
The Tech III Strategic Plan was developed concurrent to the CCC System Strategic Plan (SSP) through an extensive consultation process with CCC technology leaders statewide. With the SSP as its guiding framework, Tech III provides a roadmap for CCC systemwide Information Technology (IT) efforts. Tech III intends to convey how coming changes in IT will power new learning dynamics and overcome formidable challenges facing the CCC and all of higher education in our nation today.
